Thessaloniki Zoo

Thessaloniki Zoo is free entry – and that’s all you really need to know. You can probably guess what state it was in.

The zoo is upon the hill just inside the forest, it’s easy to find and there’s many street signs to navigate through the city’s streets.

But nobody cares about that, the animals?

There was a few ducks, a lot of deer, some sheep and goats, and a lonely donkey. Along with wild rabbits, cats and birds.. oh, and a couple of peacocks.

Many sites only mention bears and wolves, but I advise any one wanting to visit for this reason to do some research. These animals are long gone. And many enclosures are left empty.

However, it’s a perfect little walk, there’s still animals and it’s a ten minutes walk from Agios pavlos. It’s a nice afternoon out, but remember it’s free so don’t expect tigers or giraffes.
